Here is my take on the whole thing:

First and formost, I have definite reservations regarding the main people in charge of this event. Even as far out of the loop as I am in the KR conversion world I have heard some not too glowing reports on Paul Casey. I also find it quite interesting he plasters "Paul Casey Productions" all over his publicity material. If the event is supposed to be to raise money for a charity, then why break your arm patting yourself on the back and making sure people know exactly who made it all happen? Thats narcissism.

And as I understand it no security was provided for the cars on display... in fact I believe that someone other than Paul Casey or any of his representatives had to go find some ropes and stands to keep people away from the original KITT that was there.

I also have to wonder about the relatively small amount that was given to the charity. I assume everyone is aware that if you have a charity event you only have to donate 10% of the profits to the charity....

While I think it looked like it would have been fun to go there as a spectator, I think the people who brought cars got short-shrifted. Extra effort, and extra outlay of money should have gotten them special treatment.

While I'd be the first to admit that Nick Nugent is a great artist, I'm not sure the posters are all that outstanding... and this guy is also a narcissist, talks a lot about himself and who he knows and what he has done... I don't like people who blow their own horn that much.

And lastly, I hate to bring it up, but there definitely is a political agenda to the event. Or at the very least favoritism to a certain faction of the hobby. Not something that should exist. I personally would be watching my back constantly at that show, were I inclined to attend, which I am not.

I agree with Brenon... a major event like that on the east coast would definitely get my attention.

This event unfortunately is not something where everyone is welcome. As big as it is the smallness of mind and pettyness still exists just under the surface. It's the "gnats" in Vegas.

I do get the vibe from who PC hangs around with. I haven't been around PC to know him TOO well. Basicly a hey and bye because he was performing that day at Dukesfest.

There's a few members on the GL board that are solely looking out from themselves ... and their main goal by hanging out with the stars of yester year is to either get the stardom rub off on them or to get cosey with them in order to get a foot in the door to hollywood. I get that looking out for #1... which is them themselves and them again.. if your not in their circle.

I got shafted by that circle when I was asked to do the design of the T-shirts for Dukesfest... when the so-called buddy buddy of the stars... the one always following behind them at 2 inches.... is in charge of getting the shirts printed... when that fails... I was to blame.. eventhough it was all him.

I sacrificed my 20 hours of artwork time... setting up the screen overlays for the t-shirt screens... etc etc... and get shafted and blamed it was all my fault that they weren't made.

That is not all... I also volunteered to use My GENERAL LEE to give CHARITY rides around Atlanta Motor Speedway... again the tight circle is there... acted like he took my name down.. probably scribbled some circles.. "we'll give you a call if we need a driver".

Even with one of the GENERAL LEEs breaking down.. they didn't call me.. that inner circle thing again...

So I can See where your coming from..... I hope PC isn't totally like that.. but he has been buddy buddy with Barris and John Schneider for a while... plays golf with them etc... so I can definitly see they are riding their high horse.... and looking out for them. However PC, does have a sick child.... and I'm all for if he is using some of the proceeds to help with her treatment and the rest to the children miracle network... bt I don't know....

I would have the charity's name on the banner somewhere like everyone has suggested before on all ALL PRINTED MEDIA

Last year I was working my ass off to finish a replica to display in Vegas. The owner was to see it for the first time at that event. However, my wife had cancer surgery on the day we would have arrived. So of course the event lost all importance to me.

Last week Dave and I delivered the car to it's new owner in New Mexico and he was overwhelmed with it. That's my reward and it was a fun trip to places I hadn't seen...... Roswell

Paul had contacted me about getting a nose for his car and I told him it would cost $1000. Don Colie gave him one. I didn't give him anything.

It doesn't surprise me that Paul's name is on everything. By the nature of his industry, he is a self promoter. He sells himself. Some people buy it, some don't. Just like a product. I'll pass.

......Roswell, eh? That's near my stomping grounds.

I missed the first Festivus, and I'll likely miss this one too. Maybe someday I'll get to see a real KITT and meet the stars.....then again, maybe not.

I noticed PC's sidekick next door quit "supporting Don Colie" :reallyconfused:

Nah, I'm NOT confused, I know EXACTLY what happened...

To begin, last year (I can't recall exactly when but after the KRF), I sent PC a new scanner controller after he pitched a "bitch-fit" about Don and his products. PC PAID for his electronics. I state this now only to shed light on the subject and to bring a more clear picture. Personally, I don't blame Don a bit for saying what he said over there and it WELL DESERVED TO BE SAID. PC talked about Don "like a dog" to me on the phone. Is this professional? I think NOT. Yeah, I'm backing Don on this one. :-) So now PC's sidekick isn't supporting Don anymore? :snicker: Who needs to question nickky nugget's credibility? :lmao:

This whole sherade of "KRF posters, a copied book, ect." is SO full of shit and it's about time folks realize what it's all about - NOW.

Perhaps this could lead to a community of healing...

"Victor" did Don a big service by removing his hat from the Colie coat rack.

The ones that have kept Knight Rider alive are the ones who have provided the parts for KR replicas. Not to toot my own horn, but they should honor those individuals who have worked so hard through the years to provide parts and components, rather than alienate them.

Take away me, Mark, Custom Electronics, Don, Christian Forget, and Brenon and what's left? No replicas only a guy selling books and posters.

Rob you make a good point that if there where no vendors making the parts there are no replicas for the fest but also if there wasn't the fans going to the fest or fans wanting those parts there wouldn't be anybody left parts or books. I'm shipping my car there as we speak, and spending $$$$ to get it there for the show, so without the people no one is going business (parts, books/posters, promotors). I do have a product of yours, my dash is the 3/4th season dash made for Rafael the one he didn't like and then bought a new one from don.

I'm sure you'll have a good time. How's the dash working for you? I spent a year and a half on that thing.

There are also those that have been defined by their hobby to the point it is (sadly) a major part of their identity.

As far as them using the stars, I know for a fact that some of these stars know the truth about the persons intentions, but take advantage of it to get free or cheap labor and networking. If they need something, these fanboys will pull out all stops to make it happen.
